Dr Akshata Anchan is a postdoctoral research fellow with a background in cancer brain metastasis. In 2021, she completed her PhD in a neuro-immunology lab, at the Centre for Brain Research, University of Auckland. Akshata’s research interests are in cancer migration and immunology, with a focus on brain-metastatic cancers like lung cancer, breast cancer and melanoma. In the Dunbar lab, she is a part of the T-Cell therapy team (aka Team T-Cell), conducting clinical translation research. Their goal is to understand how to enrich the immune system to target and eliminate aggressive cancers like melanoma. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, pottery, dancing and baking (though often disastrously).
